Savannah is the most loving dog you can find. She works off of love. Her eyes will melt your heart. She has had three homes because other dogs were not accepting her. Now she thinks she has to be the only dog. She is VERY good with my current dog when playing, but she will not allow my dog near me in my bedroom setting, and she has attached her several times in the bed. She is trying to show dominance and I can't have that for my baby Maya of 12 years. It's tearing my heart, but I have to find her a home preferably without any other dogs. She will make an amazing companion. I mean look at her....

Greyhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Red Brindle boy but an emotional basket case. He won't be 2 until July but he is already scared of the world. Webster has his photo under 'insecure' . Has great potential to be a sweet, truly dedicated dog but needs a smaller, quiet home and a patient parent or two who will seek him out to give him love. We do not know if he is cat tolerant as he is just too shy and scared to test at this time. A well fenced yard would be a MUST. If he's on a leash and gets scared, he'll be long gone. This is a special needs dog and the normal adoption fee will be discounted if that helps to get him into the right home. As for house training, he ... (Read More)has never had an accident in his crate and usually that translated to a well trained house dog. But he absolutely needs his own private fenced yard as leash walks in public would most likely be impossible. Greyhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Missy was part of a large litter of pups found in the Everglades. She spent much of her life in a kennel and is in her first home with a wonderful foster family. Although she is a little timid, once she warms up to you she is a love bug. She knows how to sit, she is housebroken, she is not destructive and has the run of the house. She likes to play and romp around in the yard, she walks very well on a leash and loves affection. Missy is 1.5 years old, about 40 lbs and is micro-chipped. This is a courtesy post for another rescue.

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Basic Information: Name: Max, DOB: 10/4/4, Male, 9 Years Old, Color: White and Black, Racing Weight: 69 lbs. also see Molly Max and Molly were friends, more like brother and sister than say Romeo and Juliet. They raced professionally a while back and then retired. They tried the professional Shag Dancing circuit in South Carolina for a while but that didn't work out. They were adopted and lived together with a military family for over four years. Then Uncle Sam told their humans that they had to move. Anyone who knows the military knows Uncle Sam don't give a ham about your personal wants and needs, when you are assigned somewhere, you ... (Read More)go, so they did. Unfortunately Otto and Sue were not allowed to go, so they became the standard returned through no fault of their own orphans. They are now with us and are looking for their final retirement home to spend their golden years. These two have lived together and get along beautifully, so we really want to get them a home together. This pair is considered special needs along with the sick, injured, seizure, and other dogs that require special people who want and accept a little challenge. The only challenge with these special dogs is that they won't be with you for as long as the younger dogs. There is a lot to be said for adopting an older dog that a lot of people won't want, something to do with peace and satisfaction, for you and the dog. Max and Molly are not cat tolerant, or not tolerant enough to be a good fit in a home with our feline friends, so if you have a cat, you may want to pass. If you are one of those people who get great joy out of helping another soul and giving (as well as receiving) the comfort of seeing them spend their final years with dignity and can put them in a house with love and a soft bed, you will want to check out Max and Molly. Like myself, neither of these two act their age, they still have that old get up and go romp, but only for a short time just like the younger greyhounds, then it's back to the couch. I call them our pair of aces, and they would look good as a matched set, one at each end of your couch or love seat. You can call Michelle or Jerry at FOG, or email them and set up an appointment at your convenience. Although leaving the old kennel broke my heart (I was only a few minutes away), we now have the advantage of flexible visiting as opposed to the old five hours only on the weekend, you can most likely set up your most convenient time, and it's possible if you live in Broward, that they might even bring the dogs to your house to visit. It doesn't get much better than that, except maybe if they clean your house and wash your car, but don't expect that. For more information about adopting one or both of these deserving greyhounds, please visit our website: www.friendsofgreyhounds.org. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Greyhound in Florida
Greyhound Dogs can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. The Greyhound is a reserved, elegant, intelligent breed. Greyhounds are gentle, sweet companions that can be a joy to own. Greyhounds are excellent choices for adoption as adults; former racers are already crate trained and easy to housebreak, and this dog adapts well to new owners. Greyhounds have a strong chasing instinct and should not typically be trusted with non-canine animals. Greyhounds do well with older, considerate children. They do not like to be teased. A Greyhound can live in an apartment and may even behave lazily indoors, but does need daily exercise. Greyhounds are sensitive to extreme cold and should wear a coat outside in the winter.
